Existing Conditions: Level of Service

Engineers used traffic demand modeling to assign a level of service to each intersection's function. The maps below show level of service at current traffic volumes and the resulting level of service if traffic is reduced through infrastrucutre upgrades or Travel Demand Management, which is a set of techniques to encourage different travel choices.

In order to achieve an improved level of service, traffic on High School Road must be reduced by 35% or around 300 peak-hour trips.

Recommended Infrastructure:

Add a 2nd Through Lane in Each Direction from Middle School Road to US 89

  • Left Turn Lanes Where Needed

  • Eastbound Right Turn Lane at US 89

  • Traffic Control Upgrades at High School Road, East High School Entrance, and Gregory Lane

    •  Traffic Signal, Roundabout, or Personnel

Recommended Travel Demand Management Techniques

Travel Demand Management (TDM) is a set of strategies aimed at maximizing traveler choices,

including alternate destinations, routes, time of travel, and mode.
